Meditations for the Mind and Soul

We Affirm Our lives

Commandments of Contentment

Thou shalt live in the here and now. There are so many worries in our future. If we live there, we will always be worried sick.  We have made so many mistakes in our past.  If we live there, we will be perpetually embarrassed or ashamed.  The HERE AND NOW is the only place to be happy.

Thou shalt not take thyself to seriously.  I must remind myself that my middle name is not "Messiah."  There is a Savior; His simply not me.  I am in control of very little in the world.  I do not have to take so much responsibility.  I can let God run the world.

Thou shalt not be in a hurry.  The old adage, "stop and smell the roses," is more important, more wise, the older we get.  God surrounds us with beauty.  We can waste it all by rushing.

Thou shalt be grateful.  It is hard to imagine a truly grateful person being unhappy.  This kind of gratitude is not a spontaneous emotion, but a resolution.  We must BE aware of our blessings, we must be grateful.  We decide whether we want to be grareful to God about our gifts.  This attitude leads to contentment.

Did you know...

Lift up your prayers.  Do not worry about anything; instead pray about everything.
