Recognizing that vibrant music in Catholic Liturgy is vital to a vibrant worship experience, St. Winifred Parish is blessed with many volunteers who dedicate their time and talent to this mission. Our Music Ministry is comprised of several choirs, with each group supporting the "song of the assembly", providing special music leadership, when needed, and offering instrumental or choral music that reflects the meditative prayer of a particular Sunday or season. other interested players and singers.

Music Ministry - Instrumentalistsr before mass.
Various instrumentalists or groups of instrumentalists are formed and used at special liturgies throughout the year. Examples would be trumpets, brass quartet, flutes, slute trio, saxophone, percussion, and strings. Players must be Middle School age or older. Rehearsals are scheduled on an "as needed" basis. Music opportunities also exist for handbells and hand chimes, which are used seasonally.
The Teen Music Ministry is growing and ongoing music opportunity for students in grades 7-12. Junior and Senior Cantors along with various instrumental comprise this exciting component of our parish warship. They minister at select Sunday liturgies as well as special liturgies throughout the year. On occasions they may minister with the Contemporary ensemble or with the Traditional Choir. Rehearsals are scheduled on an "as needed" basis on Sundays from 11:45am-1:00pm in the Church.
Teen Cantors must be interviewed and approved by the Director of Music. A list of Cantor duties and requirements will be provided upon request. There are two groups Junior Cantors- grades 6-8 and Senior Cantors grades 9-12. Junior Cantors must sing with a Senior Cantor or as part of a small group. Senior Cantors may lead the worship on their own. Rehearsals are coordinated and scheduled with the Director of Music.
Teen Instrumentalists may play individually or in a group for a Sunday or seasonal liturgies at the approval and discretion of the Director of Music. Rehearsals are held on an "as needed" basis.
Ministers every Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. Mass, September through May, as well as for Christmas, Holy Week and special occasions. Their wide range of repertoire includes classical and traditional choral anthems as well as gospel and contemporary pieces. Membership: High School and older. Rehearsal: Thursday 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Choir Room.
